From Nancy of Willow Springs / Sibirskaja
It is with great pleasure that I fully endorse Kade and Apple Shack Cattery as she begins this exciting new chapter in her journey with the Siberian cat breed.
I have had the privilege of working closely with Kade and her mom, Kathy, for more than seven years. During that time, Kade has gained extensive hands-on experience and knowledge in virtually every aspect of raising and breeding Siberian cats. She has worked closely with me to learn about the breed, raising and socializing litters, responsible breeding practices, genetics, pedigree planning, breeding programs, and the many business responsibilities that come with operating a cattery.
Working with Kade has truly been a pleasure. She is hardworking, diligent, dependable, and brings a great deal of knowledge, dedication, and enthusiasm to everything she does.
For more than seven years, Kade and Kathy have helped raise litters for Willow Springs / Sibirskaja. They have been an invaluable part of our program in so many ways—from helping raise and develop future queens and kings for our breeding program, to assisting with ongoing client support and responding to kitten inquiries and request forms. Their dedication and care have been an important part of our continued success.
Over the years, Kade has developed a deep understanding and appreciation for the Siberian breed, not only as beautiful cats, but as a breed that deserves thoughtful, responsible, and carefully planned breeding. She understands the importance of genetics, pedigrees, temperament, health, structure, and maintaining the integrity of established bloodlines.
As Kade establishes Apple Shack Cattery, we will continue to work closely together. Our shared goal is to produce stable, healthy, traditional Siberians from carefully planned breeding programs and exceptional pedigrees. I am also excited that Kade will once again begin showing our incredible bloodlines around the country and representing the quality and dedication behind these cats.
I certainly could not do everything on my own, and I am grateful for the years of hard work and support that Kade and Kathy have provided to Willow Springs / Sibirskaja. Watching Kade grow from a young woman learning the breed into someone ready to establish and operate her own cattery has been incredibly rewarding.
I am proud to support Kade as she takes this next step, and I am happy to fully endorse Kade and Apple Shack Cattery. I have every confidence that she will bring the same dedication, diligence, knowledge, and love for the Siberian breed to her own program that she has demonstrated throughout the many years we have worked together.
I look forward to continuing our partnership, sharing our knowledge and bloodlines, and working together toward a wonderful and fulfilling future with these amazing cats.
With warmest regards,
Nancy

Siberian Cats
About the Breed
The Siberian, also known as the Siberian Forest Cat, is an affectionate, intelligent, and playful breed with a loyal, dog-like personality. These curious companions love being involved in every aspect of family life, bringing plenty of fun, mischief, and affection to their homes.
Originating in Russia, Siberians are medium-to-large cats with muscular bodies, powerful hind legs, expressive eyes, and luxurious, semi-longhaired coats that grow thicker in winter and shed seasonally. Their coats come in a beautiful variety of colors and patterns.
Weighing anywhere from 8 to 20 pounds with females on the lighter end, Siberians mature slowly, often taking four to five years to reach full size. Generally robust, they can live 15 years or longer with proper care. Social and adaptable, they often get along well with children, dogs, and other pets, making them wonderful lifelong companions.
Another unique feature Siberians have is their hypoallergenic properties. Siberians can be called low-allergen because of mutations that bring down their Feld1 levels. Feld1 secreted in saliva is spread to the haircoat during grooming. More than any other breed of cat Siberians are a great choice for people with mild or moderate allergies. Please remember “hypoallergenic” means only “less allergy”. No pet is truly 100% allergen-free.

My name is Kade Kleinerman and I am the founder, along with my mom, Kathy, of Apple Shack Cattery Siberians.
Our journey into the wonderful world of Siberian Forest cats began more than fifteen years ago when my mom and I met Nancy of Willow Springs/Sibirskaja cattery. We had been looking for a kitten for quite awhile and couldn’t fully commit as one specific concern kept popping up; Grandma Jacque was allergic to cats. At the time, we weren’t even aware that there was such a thing as a “hypoallergenic” cat! Many long hours and days of research led us to the Siberian Forest cat and we never looked back!
Our next quest was to find a breeder. We were lucky to find Willow Springs/Sibirskaja cattery located incredibly close to where we live. At the time, Nancy had a couple of older kittens available and off we went to meet them! Originally, we thought we were going to check out a gorgeous and very large tuxedo boy who we jokingly called “Dozer”. He just dozed right through everything in his way! He was adorable! As we were talking about Dozer, another kitten, albeit smaller than Dozer, kept making his way to me and squeezed onto my lap. He also squeezed into my sweater, and behind me, around my feet, etc.. We were calling him “Squeezer”, of course! We must have been there for nearly an hour before it became very clear that this little “squeezer” chose me. We named him Pepper and the rest is history! Pepper was our first Siberian cat. He was everything we read about the breed and more. For those of you who have Siberians, you know what I mean and for those of you who are future Siberian families, you’ll see! They are the sweetest, most affectionate, playful, sociable, curious, goofy and loyal breed. They love people and other pets and quickly become part of the family.
Like they say about potato chips; you can’t have just one! We were immediately in love with Pepper and hooked on the breed. We had the best of everything; a sweet kitten, a smart kitten and, amazingly enough, a hypoallergenic kitten! What could be better? Well, TWO Siberians would be nice, so we welcomed Turbo into our lives.
Right around the time we acquired Turbo, we had been discussing with Nancy the idea of “fostering” or raising litters for her. She wanted her kittens to be raised in a home-setting with everything that comes with it; kids, other pets, household activities such as kitchen noises, vacuums, etc.. We began fostering litters in 2019 and have never looked back!
I shortly after began to mentor with Nancy on all aspects of the business from caring for the cats and kittens, socializing them and the intricate process of the breeding program and the consideration of the genetics involved. We both have been heavily involved with Nancy and her cattery and many of you who have a Willow Springs cat or kitten have spoken with myself or my mom, Kathy. Kathy is the client liaison/initial contact for people who fill out the kitten request forms from Willow Springs. She may also have reached out to those of you who had an interest in an older or retired cat.
We are so excited to “officially” begin our foray into the world of Siberian Cat catteries!
We are located in Western Pennsylvania, USA, north of Pittsburgh in an idyllic old farm setting. We chose Apple Shack for the name of our cattery as the home we live in is a renovated barn that was the “apple shack” for a local farm market for more than five generations and dating back to 1854.
All of our sires and dams (moms and dads of Apple Shack) come from impeccable pedigrees and are specifically chosen for their clean bloodlines. We will breed only traditional lines with world-class pedigrees and begin again to proudly show our kittens and cats. We will continue to work with Nancy at Willow Springs/Sibirskaja cattery, as well.
We are both committed full-time to our kittens and cats and every one of them lives in our home with us.
We are a TICA and CFA approved cattery with pending registrations for the worldwide FIFe and WCF organizations.
We welcome you to our family at Apple Shack and please, feel free to browse our new website and enjoy our beautiful cats and kittens!
